Like, Follow, Watch, Discuss: NeHC Launches Social Media Efforts National eHealth Collaborative Joins Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube WASHINGTON, DC (December 13, 2010) –National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) last week launched its official Facebook page, Twitter feed, and YouTube channel, kicking off its push to develop stronger methods for seeking stakeholder feedback and promoting collaborative discussion about health information exchange. Following NeHC's NHIN University program, NHIN 204 – Beacon Communities, NeHC Interim CEO Aaron Seib announced that questions from the class would be posted on the new NeHC Facebook page for continued discussion among interested stakeholders. NeHC staff also live-tweeted the class through the Twitter handle @NationaleHealth, and a new video on the Beacon Communities program was posted on NeHC's new YouTube channel. NeHC's YouTube channel will also feature footage from past NeHC Stakeholder Forums, as well as educational materials and clips from NHIN University classes and other NeHC events. "We see social media as just one more avenue we can use to leverage two-way communication with stakeholders," said Aaron Seib. "At the end of the day, our goal is to create a robust community of stakeholders who are talking and collaborating to solve some of the most pressing problems facing the widespread adoption and implementation of health information exchange." NeHC encourages stakeholders to use the Facebook page as a forum for discussion and sharing relevant information and links as well as a resource for keeping up with NeHC news and events. Don't miss NHIN 202 – NHIN Governance Authorities on Thursday, November 4, 2010! Designed to compliment National eHealth Collaborative's ongoing series of stakeholder discussions on the development of governance for the Nationwide Health Information Network, this NHIN University class will focus on the Phase I recommendations recently made by the Health IT Policy Committee's Governance Workgroup. Participants will have an opportunity to share your opinions on the recommendations directly with key representatives from ONC and the Governance Workgroup.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: By participating in this NHIN University class, students will:
- Gain insight on the governance rulemaking process, including the opportunity for broad public input via the Health IT Policy Committee's Governance Workgroup
- Understand the key points of the Governance Workgroup's Phase I recommendations to the Health IT Policy Committee on October 20, 2010
- Functions and Objectives of Governance
- Principles of Governance
- Scope of Governance
- Understand "next steps" in the governance development process

Limited number of seats still available for CONNECT Code-A-Thon at the Mayo Clinic on September 21-22!
CONNECT Hosts the Nationwide Health Information Network Direct Project for First Co-Located Coding Event!
There are a limited number of seats still available for the CONNECT Code-A-Thon taking place in Rochester, MN September 21-22. As a participant, you'll be working with other health IT leaders as you contribute to the CONNECT solution and advance the nation's health IT agenda during this two-day event hosted by Mayo Clinic.
The Nationwide Health Information Network Direct Project (http://nhindirect.org) will be participating in the
event. Members of the Direct community interested in participating in the
Direct Project's working session at the event should register directly for the
CONNECT Code-A-Thon. The Direct Project attendees will participate in the
introductory and wrap-up sessions for the Code-A-Thon, and during the work
sessions, they will break out into a Direct-focused session.

As part of the evolution of the
CONNECT Code-A-Thons to address Community feedback, the Rochester event will
begin with a plenary session. This session includes presentations about the
latest developments in the CONNECT code and the future of the CONNECT
architecture.
The event is limited to 200 participants, and spaces are available on a first
come, first served basis. This is a coding event, so participants should be
developers ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work! The event will be a
hands-on working session where attendees and the CONNECT development team will
have the chance to collaborate, share ideas and best practices.
Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the CONNECT project
through bug fixes, code contributions, improved documentation, and by
contributing other innovations. We will be listing topics on the forums and we
encourage discussions prior to the Code-A-Thon so we can get straight to the
business of development during the event.
